Year 1-1

Rebecca Grove, Year 1 Teacher

Rebecca Grove is from Lincolnshire in the UK. She graduated from Newcastle Upon Tyne Polytechnic in 1990 where she gained a B.Ed Hons. Having taught for nine years in the UK she moved to Geneva with her family in 1999. Rebecca now has three boys. Before moving to IIL she was the coordinator of a Literacy Programme in nearby France. Outside school she enjoys keeping very busy with her boys but also reading, travelling and developing her new hobby of kayaking.


Liz Sparshott, Year 1 Teacher

Liz Sparshott, who teaches Year 1-1 on Wednesdays, is from Surrey in the UK. She graduated in B.A. (Hons) Law and Business Studies and then gained her PGCE qualification from the University of Brighton in 1994. She worked as a teacher and for a children's charity until having her own family in 2001. Liz and her family were relocated to Geneva for a year, where she co-chaired an international playgroup. The family was then moved to Frankfurt, Germany for 3 years. They returned to Geneva in 2007 and are enjoying establishing their home here. In her spare time Liz enjoys reading, cycling and travelling.


Anne Mayo, Teaching Assistant

Mrs Mayo has worked at IIL since 2008. After working in England, she came to Geneva in 1994 and raised her children here. She has also lived in the US. She enjoys reading and cooking, music and travelling. She is currently working on a degree in modern languages with the Open University.


Charmaine Takyi, Teaching Assistant

Mrs Takyi from Nottingham in England, is a Registered Teacher of the Royal Academy of Dancing. She has worked with children aged 3 up to 16 for the past eighteen years. She is married with two children and her interests include going to the theatre, reading and music.


Charlotte Foray, Intern

Charlotte Foray was born in Switzerland; she has lived here all her life. Charlotte speaks English and French. She is an intern, doing her fourth year of school at IIL and hoping to pass her 'maturité' at the end of the year. She is helping the teachers and assistants of year 1, reception and nursery. After completing her 'maturité,' Charlotte is planning to study to become a school teacher or a social worker. In her spare time, Charlotte loves shopping and going out with her friends.


Year 1-2

Susan Richardson, Year 1 Teacher

Since qualifying at Saint Martins College of Lancaster with a BAQTS degree in the Early Years in 1993, Mrs Susan Richardson has had a varied teaching experience. She has taught in the North of England, in Blackburn and Preston, in London, in Scotland - with playgroups and children with special needs -; in Thailand and now in Geneva. With her two children, she enjoys gardening and wildlife, gentle walks, exploring nature, local food and dabbling in floral art. She also enjoys music and is an active member of the Lutheran Church of Geneva.


Jo Beveridge, Teaching Assistant

Jo Beveridge, originally from The Lake District in England, has lived in Geneva since 1995. She has worked at IIL in various roles since 2003. Jo is now the classroom assistant in Y1-2, and teaches Drama and Netball. Jo has two daughters and two step-sons, three of which are in the secondary section at IIL. Most of Jo's spare time is taken up coaching Netball to children aged between 7 and 17, however, she also enjoys skiing, reading and working backstage with Geneva Amateur Operatic Society (GAOS).


Tera Goedkoop, Teaching Assistant

Tera Goedkoop is from the Netherlands and moved to Switzerland with her husband and two sons in 1995. She works as a teaching assistant on Mondays and Tuesdays. Her hobbies are swimming, cycling, running, reading and painting.
